Use of Fire-Resistant Clothing at Northern Natural Gas' Facilities
The use of personal protective equipment, such as flame-resistant clothing, assists in the prevention of injuries. To help ensure the safety of Northern’s employees, customers, contractors and the public, an outer layer of flame-resistant clothing is required when employees engage in certain operations practices, as appropriate. The clothing must be rated hazard risk category (HRC) 1 or higher, and arc thermal performance (ATPV) 4 or greater.
Flame-resistant clothing is required to be worn inside the fence of any town border station or meter station where work is being performed and natural gas is present. In addition, it must be worn in any building that contains pressurized gas piping including; but not limited to, compressor, chromatograph gas analyzer and gas storage well buildings.
