Ventura II CP08-56 Prefiling Request -- PDF

Ventura North II CP08-56

Project Overview

The Ventura North II expansion is part of the Northern Lights project, a multiphase pipeline expansion project designed to increase the capacity of Northern Natural Gas’ natural gas pipeline in its market area through 2026. The Northern Lights project offers an economical way to deliver the increased demands for clean, efficient natural gas to meet the growing energy demands for residential, commercial and industry use, power generation, and ethanol production.

Project Description

The project includes construction of a half-mile extension to an existing 36-inch-diameter pipe located in Worth County, Iowa. The pipeline will be installed parallel to Northern’s existing 30-inch pipeline. The project is necessary to meet Owatonna Public Utilities’ request for firm capacity of 5,000 Dth/day, effective November 1, 2008. In order to obtain approval for the project from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the federal agency that regulates interstate pipelines, Northern submitted a prior-notice filing January 16, 2008. FERC docketed the filing at CP08-56-000. The project was approved to commence construction effective March 25, 2008. Construction was completed, and the facilities were placed into service November 1, 2008.
