Serving Our Community
Northern Natural Gas employees have a long tradition of charitable giving and community service. Northern consistently ranks among the top companies in per capita giving to the United Way campaign. Northern employees contribute time to various community charities, including fundraising events for the American Heart Association, Alzheimer's Association, Nebraska Humane Society, University of Nebraska at Omaha women's athletics, Salvation Army and One World Community Health Center among others. Events held throughout the year, such as raffles, auctions, ice cream socials and the annual ChiliFest provide employees with an enjoyable way to raise funds for charitable groups.
Northern employees also are involved in a wide variety of volunteer activities, including Brush-up-Nebraska, Adopt-a-Park and Adopt-a-School. Many Northern employees serve on the boards of directors of nonprofit charitable organizations.
Northern employees also are eligible for the Global Days of Service program established by its parent company, Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company. Global Days of Service encourages community involvement in two ways: (1) through the hours volunteered by employees to the organization and (2) through a matching fund donation from Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company.
